Enzymatic Bleaching of Wood Pulp
ثبت نشده
چکیده
The dark colour of kraft pulp after the wood chips have been heated at high temperature with NaOH solution is caused by lignin (a complex phenolic polymer) still attached to the cellulose fibres. Traditionally this pulp is treated with chlorine to bleach the pulp to make it suitable for paper making. Unfortunately this leads to the formation of some potentially toxic chlorophenolic compounds of low molecular mass and which can polute the environment.

Influence of Fungal Enzyme Pre-treatment on Totally Chlorine-free (TCF) Bleaching of Dimethyl Formamid Bagasse Pulp
A study was carried out on totally chlorine-free (TCF) bleachability of dimethyl formamide (DMF) treated bagasse pulps exposed to CZ-3 and FP 90031-sp strains of white-rot fungus Ceriporiopsis subvermispora. This process involved an oxygen and peroxide stage bleaching sequence. The effect of enzymatic stage on bleachability properties was studied and compared with control pulps, processed witho...

Free and conjugated sterols are among the main compounds responsible for pitch deposition in the manufacture of wood chemical pulps, making difficult the implementation of totally chlorine free bleaching (TCF) and closure of bleach plant circuits. In this work, the suitability of oxidative enzymes in efficiently removing sterols from eucalypt pulps is revealed. The enzymatic treatment was appli...
متن کاملStudies on Xylanase and Laccase Enzymatic Prebleaching to Reduce Chlorine-based Chemicals during Ceh and Ecf Bleaching
The biobleaching efficiency of xylanase and laccase enzymes was studied on kraft pulps from wood and nonwood based raw materials employed in the Indian paper industry. Treatment of these pulps with xylanase enzyme could result in improved properties, showing 2.0% ISO gain in pulp brightness and/or reducing the demand of chlorine-based bleach chemicals by up to 15% with simultaneous reduction of...
متن کاملDissolving Pulp (alpha-cellulose) from Corn Stalk by Kraft Process
Corn stalk can be used as an alternative non-wood raw material to produce cellulosic dissolving grade pulp. In this work, the potential of corn stalk in the production of dissolving pulp (alpha-cellulose) was investigated. It was collect ed from a corn stalk farm of Kermanshah, Iran. The sequences of experimental work were: water and acid prehydrolysis at 160˚C for 30min, followed by Kraft pulp...
متن کاملLipophilic extractives in process waters during manufacturing of totally chlorine free kraft pulp from eucalypt wood.
The chemical composition of lipophilic extractives from process waters throughout a totally chlorine free (TCF) bleaching sequence after kraft pulping of eucalypt wood has been studied. These compounds are among the most problematic wood constituents for both TCF and zero liquid effluent (ZLE) processes, since they tend to accumulate in circuits resulting in the formation of the so-called pitch...
